Topical clindamycin may also be used for other problems as determined by your doctor. The bacteria that causes acne are called Propionibacteria acnes (P. acnes).
They are normal residents of our skin and mostly quite harmless. If your pores begin producing an increased supply of oil (sebum), P. acnes will thrive as they have a bountiful feast of excess oil and dead skin cells to gorge themselves on.
